Gerardo Porraz is a living example of the positive effects of diverse cultural backgrounds.

His musical curriculum started at the age of 4 at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City (largest in Latin America). He then studied Piano privately with several of the most recognized pianists in his country. His always evolving musical tendencies and his love and passion for modern music and technology kept him moving forward and exploring new music styles and innovative ways to record music. At the age of 18, was accepted to the Bachelor’s Degree of Music program at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in Songwriting and Production.

During his time at Berklee, he polished his contemporary music techniques (jazz, pop, funk). Upon graduation in 1997, as he searched further to modernize the Spanish market, he relocated to his native Mexico City to become Director of Music and Talent for Televisa/Radiopolis (largest media and television broadcasting corporation in Latin America), where he produced over 500 music spots, in less than a year, including music for live radio and TV broadcasting. The latter bringing on a whole new chapter to his advancing career. On the same year he co-founded Alebrije Producciones Mexico, a large and modern, one-of-a-kind, digital recording facility.

He relocated to the United States later in 1999, to join the executive team of the rapidly growing Musico Pro -the largest US based Hispanic music magazine- published monthly by Music Maker Publications, Inc.., and distributed monthly all over the US and the rest of the Americas. Since then, he has overseen the marketing, sales and production processes of the publication making it the most sought after Spanish-language music periodical.

In music, he continues to be actively involved writing for several major commercial projects including his most recent solo artist and self-titled release.

With a fresh and new sound of modern Rock music described by himself as “Progressive-Pop”, Gerry presents a compilation of original contemporary songs in a bilingual format (English/Spanish) with collaborations from top musicians such as Christopher Currell (Michael Jackson), CheChe Alara (Christina Aguilera), Marcelo Berestovoy (Paulina Rubio) and Chris Boggs (Bad English). Currently, he’s ruling the Soccer field with his continuing successes and stellar awards for most of goals in a year.

Ronaldo is from Portugal and plays for Real Madrid plus he plays as a Midfielder. When he was 18 he played for Manchester United and played for them for 6 years. He was the FIFA Footballer of the Year 2008. In one year he scored 42 goals. No doubt he is an awesome dribbler, cool shooter and kick ass header!

Wayne Rooney is an Englishman that plays for Manchester United as a tough talented forward. He has the highest goals not only in his club but also anywhere he plays. Despite a disappointing World Cup in South Africa, Rooney is still undoubtedly viewed as one of the best players in the world. The Manchester United striker has been firmly in the spotlight since first breaking into the England side aged 17 and has the potential to stay at the top of the game for years to come.

Just a ladies man? Ask any female about Kaka and the will say “Oh he’s so cute!” But that’s not the whole story about this man. He’s also from Brazil and plays for Real Madrid and is a stellar Midfielder. Kaka is known for his principles and a true believer in religion. Oh and he also happens to be a great dribbler and a soccer logistics Mastermind!

Xavier Hernandez is not only a supremely talented Midfielder with years of great play under his belt…he’s also an outspoken voice in the world of soccer. He’s declared that Barcelona is “better” than Real Madrid and also slated their opponent’s tactics after this years Champions League triumph. “Justice has been done in football, we worked hard to be the better team and now everyone sees that Barcelona are better than Real Madrid,” declared Xavi. “Our culture would not allow ourselves to play like Real Madrid. For 30 years we have played the same way, attacking and entertaining to the watcher. “It’s a great day for Barcelona.”

6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ibrahimovic viewed as one of the world’s top strikers, as well as being one of the most temperamental, Ibrahimovic made a name for himself at Inter Milan and won himself numerous personal awards at the San Siro. Known for his strength, aerial ability and fiery personality, Ibrahimovic has been compared to Dutch legend Marco Van Basten for his playing style.

This passionate English man plays for Liverpool and is a hard nosed Midfielder. Private Concerts Crank Up the Heat This Summer Across Top U.S. Hispanic Markets

The countdown for this year’s edition of Premios Juventud (Youth Awards) has begun. Having published the list of finalists, Premios Juventud has recently announced an exciting series of VIP concerts (PJ VIP Tour) around the U.S. to warm up the event organized by the well known Univision Network.

Premios Juventud is a Hispanic youth awards show celebrating music, sports, fashion, movies and pop culture. The 2010 edition set crucial ratings ablaze, making Univision the #1 network with the #1 show on all of television, English and Spanish, for the entire night among Adult 18-34 viewers.

The Spanish-language network has partnered with Eventus to bring different artists to Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston. The stellar lineup includes favorite artists like Victor Manuelle, Chino y Nacho, El Torito and Alexis y Fido.

Premios Juventud honors Latin talent in five categories that include movies, music, sports, soap operas and Pop culture. This year, Prince Royce, Shakira and Ricky Martin lead the Latin Music Nominations. Watch for Univision to air the live ceremony on Thursday, July 21 at 8:00 PM ET (7:00 PM CT).

Univision and Eventus are also proud to announce the 2011 Premios Juventud VIP Tour (PJ VIP Tour) presented by Dr Pepper, a series of private concerts featuring performances by today’s hottest artists, including past and present Premios Juventud nominees and winners. Leading up to Univision’s youth awards show, PJ VIP Tour will make stops in Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston.

“We are excited to bring the excitement and passion around one of Univision’s biggest specials, Premios Juventud, live to fans in their hometowns,” said Luis Fernandez, president of Entertainment and Univision Studios. “The PJ VIP Tour extends our commitment to bring our fans the relevant content they seek both on and off air.”

PJ VIP Tour presented by Dr Pepper launched in Miami with an exclusive performance by salsa star Victor Manuelle, known as El Sonero de la Juventud (“The Youth’s Sonero”). Next up, PJ VIP Tour will roll into New York on June 16 for a show featuring bachata sensation El Torito; then on to Chicago on June 23 turning up the heat with 2011 Premios Juventud nominees Chino & Nacho. The show will continue in Los Angeles on June 29 with another performance by the Venezuelan duo Chino & Nacho, and wraps up July 7 in Houston with reggeaton sensation Alexis & Fido.

Marco Antonio Solis •

Marco Antonio Solis

Marco Antonio Solís (born December 29, 1959 in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, México) is a popular Mexican composer and record producer. In his career he has more than 80 million records sold and 300 compositions written by himself, circumstance that places him as the most successful singer-composer in Latin America.

He started his career at the age of 6 years as one half of Los Hermanitos Solís, with cousin Joel Solís. In the mid-1970s he formed Los Bukis with whom he achieved great success in Mexico, Central and South America, as well as with Hispanic listeners in the United States.

As lead singer and chief song-writer of Los Bukis, Solís became known in the industry for outside writing and producing for popular singers such as Marisela and Rocío Dúrcal.

In 1996, after almost 20 years of working with the group, he decided to pursue a solo career. As a solo artist he has remained popular in his native Mexico as well as in countries throughout Latin America and Spain.

In the United States, Solís has been successful, with over thirty entries on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart, including multiple number one hits.His albums have also been successful within the U.S. Latin community. He also remains a sought-after record producer, having worked with Olga Tañón, Ana Bárbara, and most recently Enrique Iglesias and Anaís, among others. On August 5, 2010 Marco Antonio Solís received his star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

Armando Manzanero •

Armando Manzanero

Armando Manzanero Canché (born in Mérida, Mexico on December 7, 1935) is a Mexican musician and composer, widely considered the premier Mexican romantic composer of the postwar era and one of the most successful composers of Latin America.

His work has been performed by singers such as Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennet, Elvis Presley, Alejandro Fernández, Luis Miguel, Frank Pourcel, Paul Mauriat, Ray Conniff, María Martha Serra Lima, Raphael, Roberto Carlos, Christina Aguilera, Manoella Torres, Marco Antonio Muñiz, Angelica Maria, José José, Tania Libertad, Lucero, Cristian Castro, and Il Divo, as well as with pianist Raúl di Blasio and others.

During his lifetime, Armando Manzanero has composed more than four hundred songs, fifty of which have given him international fame. He has also participated in numerous radio and television shows, has recorded more than thirty albums and composed the musical scores of several movies.

Los Bukis •

Los Bukis

Los Bukis is a Mexican music band from Ario de Rosales, Michoacán. It was founded by the cousins Joel and Marco Antonio Solís in the 1970s. They are considered the most famous Mexican “grupero” music in the history.

Their first song was Falso Amor (“False love”) and its style became popular in Latin America and the United States. Marco Antonio wrote the songs and the album sold one million records in one year earning the album “diamond” status. After years of a success with “Los Bukis”, Marco decided to pursue a solo career. Marco began performing under the name “El Buki” (and still does to this day). Marco now performs under his own name and has released several popular albums.

The remaining members formed a new band called Los Mismos (“the same ones”) as in “the same members of Los Bukis”. Los Bukis has sold millions of albums to this day.

Conjunto Primavera •

Conjunto Primavera

Conjunto Primavera is a Mexican group from Ojinaga, Chihuahua, currently produced by Alejandro Garcia. In the 1990s and 2000s they became one of the most popular groups in the genre.

Conjunto Primavera were formed on the first day of spring in 1978 by the saxophonist Juan Dominguez. They remained a local act for several years, and signed with an indie label, Joey Records, in San Antonio, Texas. Their first major success was with the album Me Nortie, released on AFG Sigma Records in 1993; not long after, AFG was bought out by Mexican label Fonovisa.

Since their first release on Fonovisa in 1996, the group has released several gold-selling albums and has been nominated for many Latin Grammy awards.

Los Temerarios •

Temerarios

Los Temerarios are a Mexican romantic music group started in 1978 by brothers Adolfo Angel and Gustavo Angel and their cousin Fernando Angel . During their early years they were known as Conjunto La Brisa.

Los Temerarios have recorded more than 20 albums and been honored with multiple awards and award nominations. In 1991, they earned 5 Billboard awards nominations in the Latin categories.

They have sold approximately 35 million records and they have performed in many notable venues in Mexico and in other countries. Los Temerarios was one of the first bands to Stara the “Grupero” movement.

Their style is unique and innovative, with a mixture of ranchera and popular melodies.

Grupo Bronco •

Grupo Bronco

Grupo Bronco is a Mexican Grupero group from Apodaca, N.L.. Bronco’s modern take on the Norteño style in the ’80s and ’90s helped earn them a number of international hits.

Bandmembers José Guadalupe Esparza, Ramiro Delgado, Javier Villareal, and José Luís ‘Choche’ Villareal crafted a sound that paid tribute to the Norteño tradition while incorporating modern instruments like keyboards, as well as a more melodic, pop style with elaborate costumes.

Grupo Bronco has sold over 10 million albums to date and is still recording great music.

José Alfredo Jiménez •

José Alfredo Jiménez

José Alfredo Jiménez (January 19, 1926 in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato – November 23, 1973 in Mexico City, Mexico) was a Mexican singer-songwriter in the ranchero style.

His songs are considered an integral part of the Mexican musical heritage and are comparable, for instance, to Woody Guthrie’s influence on American folk music.Jiménez had no musical training—according to the singer Miguel Aceves Mejía.

He also did not play an instrument and did not even know the Spanish terms for “waltz” and “key”. Nonetheless he composed more than 1000 songs. He died at age 47 being considered one of the best songwriters that Mexico has ever produced.

José Alfredo Jiménez was certainly one of the most prolific composers in the history of popular music, worldwide and many artists speak of him with admiration and respect..

José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz (born on February 17, 1948), known by his artistic name José José, is a Mexican singer. Referred in the entertainment world as “El Príncipe de la Canción” (“The Prince of Song”), José José is best known for his romantic ballads and renowned for his vocals.

He is recognizable by his pure vocal tone and his ability to sustain high and low notes. With a series of huge hits, he received several nominations to the Grammy and numerous recognitions worldwide. His music has reached non Spanish-speaking countries like Japan, Israel and Russia.

José José has sold millions of albums. In a career that has spanned more than four decades, his performance and distinctive vocal style have influenced a big number of Latin pop artists.

Due to his wide-range vocals, his talent, his performance and the high popularity he achieved, he is considered by the media, the press and the people as an icon of the Latin pop music.
